We collect very little, hold it lightly, and try to be plain about what happens with it. There is no clever footnote hiding behind this page — what follows is the whole of it.

What we gather

Mostly the quiet things a website sees on its own: which pages were read, the browser and device used to read them, and a rough sense of where in the world the visit came from. If you write to us or send something through a form, we keep what you sent so we can write back.

How it is used

To make the site a little better: to see which guides actually help, to fix the corners that confuse people, and to answer messages when they arrive. Nothing is sold, nothing is handed off for advertising profiles, nothing leaves this desk without good reason.

Cookies and analytics

A small set of analytics cookies count visits in aggregate. Some outbound links to video tools are affiliate links and may set their own tracking once you click through — that is their doing, not ours. Browser settings and most privacy extensions will refuse all of it cleanly, and the site reads fine without them.
